Kambo Ceremony

The Kambo ceremony - A big part of the Kambo experience is attributed to the ceremony itself. The Kambo treatment (meaning the time that the medicine is on for) usually lasts between 20-40 min, however, the whole ceremony could last between 2-3 hours. The use of these traditional remedies in a ceremonial fashion dates back centuries and is a way of honouring sacred medicines and intensifying the intention of the client.

The Kambo ceremony is an ancient and sacred healing ritual practiced by indigenous tribes in the Amazon rainforest for thousands of years.

What to wear - You will want to be as comfortable as possible so please wear light, loose clothing. It is worth remembering the points could be applied in a number of different places (legs, arms, back) We suggest that you bring various layers, including:

  • Shorts

  • Vest

  • Jogging bottoms or leggings

  • Warm socks

  • Warm jumper/hoody

  • Ladies, please wear a bra or gym bra top you feel comfortable doing your session in. A halter neck top with an open back is also a good idea if we are positioning points where your bra straps may sit.

Food & diet - It is advised that you do not consume any alcohol 24 hours before and after your Kambo treatment.

Do not eat at least 8 hours before the ceremony, this includes coffee, caffeinated tea, or juice, herbal tea is ok.

You can consume 1 glass of water or herbal tea in the hours before, do not drink excessive amounts of water before arriving for your treatment. Do not eliminate salt from your diet in the days leading up to your treatment.

What to expect - this can be broken up into a number of different stages, so it is useful to understand roughly what to expect going into the treatment (this is for a standard treatment, other treatment protocols may vary slightly)

Burn the Gates - Using a small incense stick a gentle burn will be made on the top layer of the skin.

Drink Water - You will drink a min of 1.5 litres on site here, just before to ensure toxins have a vehicle to exit the body.

Apply Kambo - Small points of Kambo will be placed on the gates, allowing the body to absorb the peptides.

The Initial Rush - Within a few minutes you will get a hot flush, raised heart rate, and nausea

The Purge - As mentioned one of the ways to eliminate toxins is through vomiting (purging) although nobody particularly likes being 'sick' there is a sense of relief that comes with this. You may have several rounds of purging as the effects come in a wave-like pattern over a period of the treatment.

Supporting Tools -  For some, the purge will come with ease, for others, it is necessary to use different tools to support the purge. This includes burning dried sage & the use of Rapé, a tobacco-based snuff., administered into the nose.

Rest Time - Once the Kambo has been removed, you will have plenty of time to rest and will be provided with either a smoothie or selection of fresh fruit.

Safety & Precuations - While the Kambo ceremony has been practiced safely for generations by indigenous tribes, it is essential to approach the ritual with caution and respect. Kambo is a potent substance, and not everyone may be suitable for its use, especially those with certain medical conditions or sensitivities.

Kambo after effects - In the days following a Kambo treatment, you may feel full of energy or may be left feeling lethargic. Both of these are completely normal reactions. Kambo provides a deep cleanse which can mean the cravings for certain unhealthy foods, negative behaviours & thought patterns are reduced, so we advise that you use this opportunity to create more healthy choices in your life.

We do not recommend a time for subsequent treatments as it is important to listen to your body and decide if and when treatments are needed, unless you are having a planned treatment for a certain condition.
